Battery organizers are fairly cheap, come in a variety of shapes and sizes, and can save you considerable money over the years.

Are you still wondering if a battery organizer is really right for you? Let's consider just a few reasons why they are a good investment. After considering their benefits, you're likely to see just how useful they can be.

Benefits of Battery organizers

1. It Saves You Money

This pointed has been discussed briefly, but it deserves more attention. Batteries are becoming more and more expensive. There are so many options on the rack at the store and most consumers feel compelled to buy the most expensive ones. After all, that usually means they will last longer. Cheaper batteries tend to lose their charge quicker and thus actually cost more in the long run.

You might find yourself paying more than $10 for a 10 pack of AAA batteries. That's an average of around $1 per battery. If you use three of them and then lose 7, then you've just lost $7 on that one pack. Think about how many batteries you've lost over the last decade. There could be hundreds of dollars worth of batteries lying around in drawers, cabinets, buckets, or in the trash.

A battery organizer, on the other hand, usually falls in a price range between $20 and $50. And those organizers store more than just the AAA you might lose. It also holds AA, C, D, 9V, and possibly more. It depends on the specifics of the organizers. Overall, that adds up to huge savings over a ten year period. Definitely enough to justify the initial investment.

2. Prepared For The Storm

Have you ever found yourself frantically trying to prepare for a storm? What's one of the first things you need to rush to the store to buy? Probably batteries. They are extremely important during harsh weather conditions. Batteries are used in portable radios, walkie talkies, flashlights, and more. The last thing you want is to find yourself trapped in the basement without any light or way of listening to the outside world.

And what if you're able to scrounge up a few batteries you've lost over the years? They will definitely help, but are still a sub-optimal option. For example, it's actually not recommended that you mix different brands of batteries. It's also not recommended that you mix old batteries with new batteries in the same device. But if you are scraping up all of the batteries you can find in the house, then you may have no choice.

With the best battery organizer you can clearly see which batteries are from which brand. And, in most cases, you only store new batteries in the organizer. This way, you know your radio or walkie talkie will always have fresh batteries from the same brand.

3. Prepared For The Party

Kid's birthday parties are sometimes scarier than a storm. You spend so much time organizing things and buying toys for the kid, but what happens when you don't have the right batteries? You may already have a dozen AAA batteries stashed around the house, but what about D batteries or 9V batteries? These are often the most difficult to find.

A simple solution is to purchase a battery organizer that houses all of these different battery types and then fill it to full capacity. If the organizer is full, then you can be absolutely certain you'll have the batteries you need when it comes party time.

This doesn't just apply to parties either. There are plenty of times when we need a certain type of battery that we just don't have. In those moments, you either have to purchase new batteries from the store or just forget about using that new remote, toy, or radio. A battery organizer helps you stay prepared for all sorts of scenarios.

4. Some Come With Cool Features

Manufacturers of battery organizers want to make money. That means they need to make products that stand out from the competition. After all, they want you to buy their organizer instead of that other brand's. One way they do this is by adding some cool features to the organizer.

One of the most common features you'll find in the best of battery organizers is a battery tester. It's a small device that you touch to your battery to see how much charge it has left. If your battery has lost its charge over time or if you accidentally placed a dead battery in the organizer, the battery tester will let you know. It's a great tool to have around the house even if you don't have a battery organizer.

In most cases, the battery testers are detachable. That means, if you wanted, you could take the tester with you outside of the house. An example of when it might be beneficial is during a camping trip. You can use it to test batteries if something doesn't seem to be working right.

The bottom line is that battery organizers are great items to have around the house. They don't take up much space, they can save you hundreds of wasted dollars, they have some pretty neat features, and they help you stay prepared for the best or worst of occasions.

what To Look For in a Battery organizer

The bottom line is that battery organizers are great items to have around the house. They don't take up much space, they can save you hundreds of wasted dollars, they have some pretty neat features, and they help you stay prepared for the best or worst of occasions. But how can you tell which organizers are the best? Here are a few key parameters to look for.

1. Storage Capacity

One of the first things you'll want to consider when searching for the best battery organizer is exactly how many batteries it can store. Obviously, being able to store ten batteries isn't going to help much in the long run. Most organizers store between 60 and 90 batteries.

It's also important to consider the ratio of different battery types it can store. For example, if the maximum capacity is 50, but 40 of those are AA, then you won't have much room for the other types. It's best if your organizer can store around 10 of each of the types you don't use as much, such as C or D.

2. Extra Features

Remember, those features are how they compete with each other, so there's nothing wrong with hunting down the organizer with the best features. This includes battery testers, but also simple features like the ability to hang on the wall. Even coming with a warranty could be viewed as an extra features because they certainly don't all come with one.

Don't expect the average organizer to come with touch screen LED controls or smart home integration. After all, they are supposed to be affordable so that you actually save money in the long run. Really examine the little features and consider how they will impact your usage.

3. Size

Finally, you'll want to consider the size of the organizer. Ideally, you want your organizer to take up as little space as possible. This means being flat, thin, and compact. However, you don't want to sacrifice storage capacity. It's tough finding the right trade-off. At the end of the day, whichever organizer can cram the most batteries in the smallest amount of space is doing the best job.

4 Best Battery organizers

Now that you know why you should invest in a battery organizer and you know what features are the most important, it's time to take a look at some of the top models on the market. We'll review each model, give it a rating for each of the parameters listed above, and then we'll let you make your decision as to which you think is the best.

Battery Organizer With Clear Cover

By The Battery Organizer

First, we have your standard white plastic battery organizer with a clear hinged cover. It's the perfect combination of simplicity, affordability, and efficiency. It can hold a total of 93 batteries, which is a fairly impressive number compared to the average organizers. The only set back in this area was that only 4 of those batteries could be a9V, only 8 could be C, and only 6 could be D. We would have liked if it could hold a few more C, D, and 9V batteries. Especially considering that it can hold 45 AA and 25 AAA.

As far as features go, it comes with a detachable battery tester that does not require any batteries to operate. Customers have reviewed that the tester works great, with high accuracy, and is very easy to use. The organizer can be hung on the wall or stored in a drawer.

The final two features worth mentioning are the swing drawer for flat batteries and the clear lid itself. A clear lid may not seem like a big deal feature, but it makes it much easier to see how many batteries you have and exactly what kinds. It's a feature you can appreciate if you've ever used an organizer with an opaque lid.

Finally, it is fairly compact considering the high volume of batteries it can hold. It's 7 inches wide, 12 inches long, and 2.5 inches high. Albeit, the size probably would have increased if they included more storage space for D and C batteries.

Black Battery Organizer Rack

By Heyang

With a storage capacity of 72 batteries, this organizer rack still holds a decent amount of batteries, but there are certainly a few models that hold even more. It does have a more diverse selection than the previous organizer. It only holds 26 AA but can hold a few more D batteries. It can also hold AG and CR batteries, which many organizers cannot. If you know that you use those battery types, then this may be the one for you.

The features are just what you expect. However, the battery tester with this model is extremely easy to use thanks to its design. This organizer also comes with a three-year warranty, which is always a good thing. And you might consider its ability to store rarely used battery types as a feature of its own.

This model measures in at 12 inches long, 6.3 inches wide, and 1.3 inches tall. It's designed to go in a drawer or to hang on the wall. It doesn't come with a lid, which is both useful and troublesome at times. It presents the same visibility advantage as having a clear lid, but without the benefit of having an actual lid.

Range Kleen's Battery Storage Organizer Rack

This is the first organizer on the list to come from a reputable brand. It has a storage capacity of 82 batteries with a nearly even mix of AA and AAA. Unfortunately, the D and C batteries each are limited to around 8.

There aren't many features with this model. There is the standard removal battery tester, which is always nice. There is also a rotating drawer that can house button batteries for watches and other small devices.

The size is where this compact model really shines. It's only 11.5” x 6” x 1.5”. Those dimensions make it the most compact storage compartment on the list so far, despite having one of the highest storage capacities. It's a well-rounded organizer that's worth the money.

Coomatec's Battery Organizer

Last on the list is this massive battery organizer from Coomatec. The first and biggest advantage that it has is the number of batteries it can hold. It can hold a total of 98 standard batteries and contains a compartment for several button batteries. Added together, that puts the storage capacity slightly above 100. The highest on the list.

Unfortunately, it doesn't come with many extra features. This model focuses entirely on size and storage capacity, which is absolutely fine for most people. As a matter of fact, you might consider its high capacity one of its best features. It does have an option for mounting on the wall, but some customers claim that the battery holes make that difficult.

The size is fairly impressive considering its capacity. It's 13” long, 6.7” wide, and 2” tall. That does make it the largest on the list, but not by much. If you're a person with a lot of batteries, then this is the perfect organizer for you.
